The "Minimal Acceptable" Standard

We all have a lot of responsibilities for ourselves, and for others in our care. No matter what, it seems that some we do really well, and others are always a struggle (at least in comparison to what we do well at). Constantly, we tell ourselves, "I need to get my act together in that area!"

How to deal with this common dilemna? I have developed the theory of the "Minimal Acceptable Standard."

  1. Concentrate on what you're naturally good at. Excel at it. Pour yourself into it. Make a difference in the world!
  2. With everything else, determine what is the minimum acceptable standard you need to meet in order to be a responsible adult, and be OK with that.

Don't let the things you are not naturally good at distract you from the big impact you could be having in the area of your genius!
