Stinkin' Thinkin'

I was going over the list of character defects i had identified and picking out what i would consider to be "errors in thinking." Here's what i came up with.

  • i must be liked by everyone

  • pain must be avoided

  • I must be # 1

  • I can do it all by myself

  • I must be perfect

  • It should be easy

  • If I avoid problems long enough they will go away

  • Life should be fair

  • No one really cares about the real me

  • Others must live up to my expectations

  • Comparing myself to others is the only guage of my self-esteem

  • Dogmatic people are right

  • Other people are to blame for my choices

  • I must earn love and acceptance

  • I must "figure it out"

  • I must be like others

  • I need absolute certainty before I make a decision or take an action

  • I must suffer for my mistakes and shortcomings

  • I deserve special treatment and to be given breaks

  • Relationships should be easy

  • Physical touch = love

  • I have a right to have sex

  • Women who are hard to get are more desirable

  • If no one will notice or miss it, it's ok to take stuff

  • It's all about me

  • Going slowly and cautiously, and testing it out, and researching are a waste of time

  • I can make this relationship work if I try hard enough

  • Loss is terrible and unacceptable

  • Toleration is always loving and Christ-like

  • The most efficient way to live is to be careless and lazy, and hope for the best

  • It's best not to hear the bad news

  • Others always want to hear my two cents

  • Success is not something i deserve or can handle

  • It's all up to God

  • As long as I get away with it, it's ok

  • I only need to submit when I agree

  • I can change other people

  • Correction = Criticism

  • If I accept myself for where I'm at today, then i will have no motivation to change

  • Anti-establishmentism is cool

  • The safest way to live is to not get too close to people.
